Support These Horror Podcasts by Creators of Color

Give the gift of community, culture, and genre-defying brilliance.

These podcasts are powered by Black, Brown, and queer creators who have carved out necessary space in horror. Supporting them through Patreon, shares, merch, and word-of-mouth fuels the kind of horror future NightTide fights for every day.

A Nightmare on Fierce Street

Trent and Sharai serve up razor-sharp commentary soaked in humor, cultural analysis, and absolute genre devotion. Their chemistry is unmatched and it feels like pulling up a chair at the funniest, smartest group chat in horror. They critique the canon, uplift the overlooked, and bring lived experience into every review. With hundreds of episodes, they remain a powerhouse for Black horror perspectives.
Standout Episode: Are They Getting Paid by the Hour? (The Conjuring: Last Rites) — chaotic brilliance.
Gift This: Patreon membership or an episode-request tier.

Blerdy Massacre

“Blerd” culture meets horror in this energetic, unapologetically Black show. With Thee Black Elvira, Xero Gravity (horror maven, host and MC) and Sharai the Slayer (showcasing her comic and analytical chops on another podcast), the hosts blend humor, fandom, cultural commentary, and deep genre love while tackling film, docs, fantasy, anime, and everything between. They’re loud about representation, loyal to their community, and wildly entertaining. This is horror discourse with warmth, intellect, and cultural grounding.
Standout Episode: Horror Noire, Because We Can; essential listening on Black horror lineage.
Gift This: Patreon + merch.

Girl, That’s Scary

A fan favorite for good reason, GTS blends humor, honesty, and high-level genre critique with ease. Their episodes feel like talking horror with your smartest friends — full of laughs, cultural awareness, and deep-cut recommendations. Their collaboration with other POC horror creators builds community rather than competition.
Standout Episode: Black Mirror Season 6 feat. Sharai, is sharp, funny, and socially rich.
Gift This: Patreon or curated episode playlist.

ScaryCrit

This podcast is a gem for fans who crave both depth and heart. Lauren La Melle and Jared Hudson contextualize horror within Black histories, identities, joys, and fears, illuminating the genre’s cultural work with clarity and care. They balance critique with genuine love for horror, never letting academia overshadow accessibility. Their passion is contagious.
Standout Episode: Their take on I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) — funny, critical, and nostalgic.
Gift This: Social media shout and fave episode share!

In Love With Horror

In Love With Horror is one of the most generous forces in the indie horror space; a show that lifts others up as its primary ethos. Married couple Kristie and AJ champion indie filmmakers, marginalized voices, and emerging artists with consistency and care. Every episode feels like an act of service to the community: warm, open, curious, and deeply engaged in the future of horror. Their interviews are insightful and in-depth, offering creators a space to be seen rather than interrogated. It is one of the most love-soaked platforms in genre media today.
Standout Episode: Revenge of La Llorona, Mortal Kombat 3 Announced…
Gift This: Patreon or Ko-Fi

Don’t Go In There, Girl!

A joyful, Black-women-led horror hangout that blends humor, cultural commentary, and genuine love for the genre. Their takes are sharp but delivered with laughter and camaraderie. They bring a sister-circle honesty to horror, making the listener feel seen and included.
Standout Episode: Their The Blackening breakdown: hilarious and culturally on point.
Gift This: Hype on social here!

NIGHTLIGHT: The Black Horror Podcast

A narrative audio drama that showcases horror fiction written and performed by Black creatives. NIGHTLIGHT is a masterclass in craft, atmosphere, and emotion. It remains one of the most important storytelling platforms for Black horror writers.
Standout Episode: The Stained Bird: haunting, lyrical, unforgettable.
Gift This: Patreon + anthology preorder.

We Die First

A heartfelt, funny Black-led horror-watch podcast with friendship at its core. The hosts mix pop culture, personal stories, queer-friendly commentary, and messy laughter into consistently delightful episodes.
Standout Episode: Jennifer’s Body: joyful, queer, and sharp.
Gift This: Social Media shoutout and share!

People Under the Scares

A Black-owned indie podcast full of irreverent humor, genre love, and spotlights on cult classics and B-movies. Their excitement is contagious and their critiques are thoughtful without being heavy-handed.
Standout Episode: Tales from the Hood: heartfelt and resonant.
Gift This: Patreon + merch.

Pumping out consistent horror content can be a biggidy-bitch at ANY time of the year, but during the holiday season, creatives have got a lot on their plate: juggling a job, family, the quest to be great, catching up with the latest horror news, watching the latest film, etc.

Every little bit helps to keep the party going!

One response to “SEASONAL SHOUTOUT: HOW TO SUPPORT YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD HORROR CREATIVES (Podcast Edition)”

  1. Hi there, Mo,

Thank you for all of these amazing recommendations. Just went and started following each & every one. As a white, cis, gay man, I’m honored to diversify my podcast lineup.

If you’re looking for another queer, warm, funny podcast, I highly recommend Happy Horror Time with Matt Emert and Tim Murdock. These (white) gay besties balance movie reviews with interviews with those in the industry. I love how authentic, connecting, and inclusive they are.

Happy Holidays to you & yours!,
    Nathan Buck
    Portland, Oregon.
